Canned Military Surplus Country Fried Steaks

Government surplus Freeze Dried Food

These Freeze Dried Fried Steaks are about 1/4" thick and they average 5" to 5 1/2" long. Country Fried Steak also known as Chicken Fried Steak or Beef Steak Fritter is a favorite dish in many parts of the USA, especially in the Southern part of the Country. It is a breaded cutlet dish consisting of a piece of steak coated with seasoned flour and pan-fried. The flavor is meaty and not overly salty.

All cans were sealed in an oxygen/moisture-free environment. Each can weighs 25 oz.

Flash Facts:

  • #10 Size Cans (aka Gallon Can)

  • Net Weight 25 oz

  • U.S. Government/Military Surplus

  • 25+ year shelf life

  • No Refrigeration Required

These dried country-fried steaks were manufactured by a large military defence contractor. As always, we opened several test cans to try these out before we offer them to you, and these steaks were amazing: juicy, tender, rich with beef flavour with crisp and crunchy shell! These steaks will provide you with a warm, delicious meal that you will love!

Preparation: To prepare the steak, just soak the desired amount of steak in warm water for 10 minutes and cook. If steak is not rehydrated after 10 minutes, allow a couple more minutes, but make sure not to keep it in the water for too long so that the breading stays in place!

To prepare on a flat grill - Heat the grill to 350 degrees and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.

To prepare in a deep fryer - Heat the deer fryer to 350 degrees and cook for 3 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.

Once we rehydrated the steaks, we cooked them on a flat grill. However, it is completely up to you how you want to prepare them. Once rehydrated, they look just like regular Country Fried Steak that you would prepare at home. You can expect 25+ years shelf life as long as the steaks are sealed in the can - and probably as many as 30 to 40 since there is no water or oxygen in the can to spoil them!!!

Once opened they will last:

  • up to 1 year in a Zip Lock bag with refrigeration once opened but not re-hydrated

  • up to 60 days in a zip lock bag without refrigeration once opened, but not re-hydrated

  • up to 5 days in the fridge once they are re-hydrated.

These are perfect for storing and using for many years! You can have great-tasting food in seconds with no mess and no waste - and it doesn't matter if the power goes out!! You can open just one can at a time and in 10 minutes cook one or as many of these as you want however you would cook any other country fried steaks!!! Perfect for camping, boating, traveling, or at the cabin.
