With over 1,800 premium quality seeds, this can contains more seeds than most other products on the market at a comparable price. The seed packets are heat-sealed in a triple-layered foil bag, which can be resealed with a hot iron for future use.
The seeds in this can have been carefully dried to their optimum moisture content to increase their storage life. They can be stored safely for a minimum of 5 years at 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit and much longer at lower temperatures. Each 5.6 degree drop in storage temperature will double the storage life of non-hybrid seeds. Temperature and moisture content are critical factors for successful seed storage.
This can of seeds is proudly made in USA and adheres to the Federal Seed Act rules and regulations for hermetically sealed seeds. It is a fantastic mix of heirloom, non-hybrid, open-pollinated, and non-GMO long-term storage seeds that can provide you with fresh, home-grown produce for years to come.
1. What are heirloom seeds?
Heirloom seeds are types of seeds that have been passed down through generations. These seeds are generally considered to be open-pollinated and many of them possess unique characteristics like different shapes, colors, or flavors. Heirloom seeds can be used for growing vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers in a garden. They are a great way to preserve the genetic diversity of plants and connect people with their food sources.
2. How to store heirloom seeds?
Heirloom seeds should be stored in a cool, dry, and dark place. It is best to store them in an airtight container or sealed jar. Make sure that the environment you store them in is not too humid or hot as this can damage the seeds and reduce their lifespan. It is also important that any containers you use for storage are clean and free from moisture, pests, and other contaminants.
Each can was bubble wrapped with care. No dents! This was bought for long term storage. Of course I had to open one to sample. Excellent and spreads easily.
The Butter is still my favorite though!
A necessary and valuable tool in my survival toolbox
The Safecastle Mountain Essentials Grain Mill is a well made, dependable, heavy duty tool for any kitchen that plans to remain operational in a world that offers no guarantees. While a mortar and pestle will take care of the smaller ingredients, the Mountain Essentials Grain Mill can take care of the whole loaf and will grind the makings for the cup of coffee when the dishes are done.
Love this machine and am considering it one of my better long term planning investments.
Always a quality product, and can't beat it on the case sale prices. The 14oz can is just the right size for a small family meal, and easy to add a second can if needed, without waste. Product is simply meat ad a little salt, ready to be seasoned or prepared in a multiple of ways.
Everything about this particular item is great. The price can’t be beat, and it’s a great “sample pack” of Keystone meats. I usually stick to Keystone 28 oz. beef, pork and hamburger, but figured a small sample pack of these 14.5 ouncers with turkey and chicken could not only round out a better meal selection, but also serve as barter material in the future.
As always, Safecastle packs their boxes very well (lots of bubble wrap), and even though UPS treated this 66 lb package worse than a red headed stepchild, there was zero damage to the cans.
