About the Kelly Kettle Trekker

The Kelly Kettle Trekker stainless steel camp kettle boils approximately 20 oz of water at a time – that’s about three 6 oz. mugs of water for camp coffee, tea or hot cocoa. The small Trekker Kelly Kettle will bring water to a boil within a matter of minutes. Perfect lightweight camping kettle for 1-2 people, trekking, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, picnics, fishing. The trekker kettles are ideal for emergency preparedness kits, humanitarian aid stations, or anyone working in the forests or the great outdoors.

Fire base and drawstring carrying bag are included with each Kelly Kettle. The durable stainless steel Firebase inverts up into the bottom of the kettle to make the unit as compact as possible for transport and storage.

The Green Whistle has replaced the Orange stopper on the Kettles and will sound a nice loud whistle to let you know when the water has boiled. Older Kelly Kettles may have an Orange Rubber or Cork Stopper. These MUST ALWAYS be removed before using the kettle. The Kettle must never be boiled with these older stoppers in the spout, but the new camping kettle with whistle can be left in while the water is boiling.

Best Camping Kettlein Bad Weather

All Kelly Kettle products are the best kettle for camping as they work extremely well in all weather conditions. They are a vital piece of camping equipment for any outdoor adventure. Extremely dependable as they have no moving parts to fail or break.

Burn All Natural Fuel

Never pack fuel again and save money. Kelly Kettles are cost free to run and eco-friendly, as they use all natural fuel such as twigs, dry grass, heather, birch bark, pine cones, dry animal dung, etc. Add the Kelly Kettle Pot Support and Cook Set to your gear and prepare small amounts of food like noodles, rice, oatmeal, eggs, and hydrate food over the kettle while your water boils. Boil water and cook food at the same time using only a handful of natural fuel!

Better yet, grab a Kelly Kettle Hobo Stove accessory and turn the Firebase of your kettle into a stand alone wood-fueled camping stove. See our Stainless Steel Kit offerings for best value on Kelly Kettle and all the accessories.

Remember: The Kettle has been designed to boil water extremely fast in all weather conditions using very little fuel. When filled with water, the Kelly Kettle should always be carried upright to avoid any spillage/leakage from the water spout or chimney top.

Kelly Kettle users have described their kettles as the “Greatest Invention of all Time”.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take the Kelly Kettle Trekker to boil water?

The Trekker boils 20 fl. oz. of water quickly using natural fuel like sticks and twigs, typically in just a few minutes depending on fuel type and dryness. The double-wall design and firebase system create an efficient combustion chamber for fast heating.

Can I use the Kelly Kettle Trekker for backpacking, or is it too heavy?

Yes, the Trekker is specifically designed as a lightweight option for backpacking and hiking—it's the smallest size in the Kelly Kettle line. The complete set (kettle, firebase, whistle stopper, and bag) weighs significantly less than traditional camping cookware, making it ideal for couples or solo backpackers.

What fuel does the Kelly Kettle Trekker use, and will it work in wet conditions?

The kettle burns natural fuels like sticks, twigs, dry grass, pine cones, and bark—no canisters or liquid fuel needed. It works best with dry fuel, so it's most reliable in fair weather; you may struggle finding adequate dry material in consistently wet conditions.

How many people can the Kelly Kettle Trekker serve?

With a 20 fl. oz. capacity, the Trekker is best suited for 1-2 people or small groups needing quick hot water for tea, coffee, or instant meals. You can refill it multiple times for larger groups, but each boil takes a few minutes.

Is the Kelly Kettle Trekker durable enough for regular emergency kit use?

Yes, the stainless steel construction is extremely durable and corrosion-resistant, making it suitable for both emergency preparedness and repeated outdoor use over many years. Since it requires no fuel canisters or batteries, it's reliable for emergency situations where conventional tools may not be available.
