The Big Berkey's size and holding capacity make it highly adaptable, and ideal for medium-sized families of one to four people. Its compact size allows it to easily fit into an RV, tiny house, or cabin.
Be sure to use all four elements to keep over a dozen people hydrated with clean water in emergencies with the Big Berkey system.
The Big Berkey's 2.25-gallon capacity will take approximately two hours and fifteen minutes to filter through the upper chamber to the bottom chamber. Variables can cause the filtering speed to vary, either faster or slower.

1. How to Clean Big Berkey Water Filter?
Start by removing all of the filter elements from the upper chamber. Rinse each filter element with a stream of cold water for 1-2 minutes to remove any loose sediment or particles. Next, soak each element in a solution of warm water and white vinegar for 15-20 minutes to release any trapped contaminants. After the soak, rinse each filter element with a stream of cold water for an additional 1-2 minutes. reassemble the filters into the upper chamber and you’re ready to go!
2. How long does the Big Berkey take to Filter Water?
It takes approximately an hour to filter one litre of water through a Big Berkey, which has a capacity of 8.5 litres or roughly three and a half quarts.

How To Clean Berkey Water Filters The Right Way?
Remove the filters from the unit ,Scrub the outside of the filters with a soft-bristled brush under running water to remove any debris or sediment.Submerge the filters in the soapy water and let them soak for about 30 minutes.
After soaking, rinse the filters thoroughly under running water to remove any soap residue.
Reassemble the filters in the correct order and reinstall them into the Berkey unit.
