M. Brooks, 1/20/12: "The service is incredible; each time I have contacted Vic, I get an immediate response. He's always been kind, considerate and very professional and stands behind his word. The membership perks--phenomenal. Safecastle is really a ministry to those trying to prepare ... truly a first rate outfit, selling quality products at a reasonable price, owned and operated by a man who has a servant’s heart."
William J., 5/12/12: "... getting 25% off MH cases wasn't enough. Now you're getting me over 50% off this purchase! You've saved me a bunch of money. Thanks for your outstanding shop and such great prices. Ya'll have one of the greatest operations going … and believe me, I DO shop around."
Jeffrey P., 7/6/12: "Excellent customer service is so rare these days that when you experience it you are somewhat surprised. As a fellow business owner, I certainly appreciate and applaud the manner in which you run your business. Being able to resolve this matter at 9:48 on a Friday evening is simply incredible."
M.M., 2/15/13: "I just want you to know how awesome and fast your shipping and service is. I think you already know this, but it doesn't hurt to mention it :) There are a couple of other major online stores that I placed orders over 6 weeks ago that have yet to ship. You all must be very hard working folk. Thanks!"
Dave W, 5/16/13: Thank you so much for running a store that provides excellent customer service andsome I didn't even sells quality products at reasonable prices. The Steelhead Adventure medical kits came today and I am once again impressed. I have shopped at other preparedness websites and I have yet to come across one that is as responsive to customers and potential customers as yours is. I have sent emails a couple times to you asking for more information when trying to compare products. You have always answered my questions fully as well as answering think to ask. Keep up the good work."

The Solo Stove is a natural convection inverted downgas gasifer stove that incorporates a secondary combustion for a more efficient and cleaner burn. The bottom vents allow air to enter and flow up the bottom of the grate to feed the primary combustion, a top down smolder. In addition, air entering in from the bottom vents heats up within the inner wall and rises up and out the top firebox vents causing a secondary combustion at the top of the stove. The Solo Stove doesn't just burn wood. It actually cooks the smoke out of the wood and then burns the smoke not once, but twice! This technique makes for a cleaner burn which means less smoke and also allows the stove to burn more efficiently which means it requires less fuel than regular wood stoves.
Size (nested): 4.25" diameter, 3.8" tall
Size (assembled): 4.25" diameter, 5.7" tall
Weight: 9 oz
Material: Fully hardened 304 stainless steel; nichrome wire
Time to Boil: 8-10 mins (34 fl oz water)
The Solo Stove is built using a double walled construction. The air intake holes on the bottom of the stove channels air to the bottom of the fire while at the same time, channels warm air up between the walls of the stove. This burst of warm oxygen feeding back into the firebox through the smaller holes at the top of the stove causes a "secondary combustion" to occur. The result is a fire that burns more complete which is why there is very little smoke. A more efficient burn means you'll use much less wood compared to an open camp fire. The cooking ring features triple pot supports and an angled lip that directs heat towards your pot minimizing heat loss. The vented wall on the cooking ring also acts as a windshield while still allowing oxygen to flow inward. Cooking is quick and efficient - 34 fl oz of water can be boiled in as quickly as 8 minutes.
Weighing only 9 oz, the 4.25" x 3.8" (with the cook ring nested) Solo Stove conveniently fits directly inside most camping pots/cups including the popular Snow Peak Trek 900. The compact design of the Solo Stove makes it a great choice for backpackers, campers and survivalists. Each Solo Stoves comes with a reusable nonwoven fabric drawstring pouch for easy storage in your backpack.
Your Solo Stove will free you from having to carry various canned fuels. Not only is a wood burning stove safer, it's a lot more gentle on our environment. Empty fuel canisters end up landfills and are not reusable. With your Solo Stove being as efficient as it is, picking up a few twigs along your trek is all that's needed. This unobtrusive approach to cooking will allow each of us to make a real difference to our environment. Also remember that your Solo Stove will not scorch or burn the ground under it. The Solo Stove lets you tread lightly and leave no trace.
Your Solo Stove is built to last. Compared to other compact camp stoves, your Solo Stove is made by using deep drawn stainless steel. This manufacturing process allows us to use precision presses to form and shape solid pieces of stainless steel. The outer shell of your Solo Stove is actually one entire piece of stainless steel with no seams or welds. The inner firebox is comprised of two formed pieces of solid steel. The ash pan is deep drawn as well. Deep drawn stainless steel construction eliminates the need for excessive welding and increases the overall strength and lifespan of your stove. Nichrome wire, which has a high melting point of 2552 degrees Fahrenheit, is used for the grate.

DC, 10/1/12: "As a 15-year veteran of the customer service industry, I have always worked to provide my customers with World Class Service. As a result, I hold the yardstick VERY high when I find myself in the role of befuddled customer. In the 18 hours since I became his customer, Vic has gone light years beyond my every expectation. His quick response to my emails, willingness to explore all possible resolutions, and the way he took OWNERSHIP of my issues (no matter how small) have all astounded me. I honestly wish I had found Safecastle sooner, so I could have already told everyone who would listen where they can find truly World Class Service."
