A major recent project for our builder has been a "mega-shelter" going in under what will be a very large new home. This shelter alone has more threat-hardened space than many homes have livable room. Interesting features include 11-foot ceilings, elevators, and a spiral staircase! Don't for a second think that makes this shelter in any way vulnerable! Fully self-contained, there are impenetrable blast walls around the elevator shaft, over 140 yards of concrete throughout and surrounding the steel plate structure, almost 1000 gallons of water storage, plumbing, hot water, a bunk house, a generator house, escape hatches, and much more.
